DECLAMATION pieces elementary batch 1986

"Tanda nyo pa ba yung mga Declamation/Poem pieces natin nung elemetary days pa natin...."

"Kaw kausap ko....mga ka age level ko at ka batch ko way back 1986......."

Now, you are cordially invited to revisit yung good old days nung uso pa ang Big Boy Bubble Gum at ang pagtakbong pauwi na bitbit bitbit ang 'spartan' na tsinelas kasi baka mapudpod sa init nang maitim na aspaltong halos matunaw sa tindi nang init nang araw....

So...welcome to time space warp...(familiar ka rin siguro kay Shaider at ang kanyang kalabang si Zuma Lay-Ar.....)

The Owl and the Pussycat by Edward Lear.

The Owl and the Pussycat

The Owl and the Pussycat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
"O lovely Pussy! O Pussy, my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are, you are, you are,
What a beautiful Pussy you are."
Pussy said to the Owl "You elegant fowl,
How charmingly sweet you sing.
O let us be married, too long we have tarried;
But what shall we do for a ring?"
They sailed away, for a year and a day,
To the land where the Bong-tree grows,
And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood
With a ring at the end of his nose, his nose, his nose,
With a ring at the end of his nose.
"Dear Pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling your ring?"
Said the Piggy, "I will"
So they took it away, and were married next day
By the Turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined on mince, and slices of quince,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon.
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand.
They danced by the light of the moon, the moon, the moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.

1983 to 1984. Grade 4.
The piece. Walt Whitman's 'O Captain! My Captain!'

Well, dito, kailangan nang ibigay ang best. May feelings na at emotion ang declamation piece.
Yupp...medyo naiintindihan mo na ang bawat linya kaya pede na bigyan nang emosyon at buhay. As usual, the stage mother is squeezing our brains (and hearts) out para umiyak sa mga linyang ikakapanalo while reciting the piece.....
So, to relive the pains and agony of being in the Grade 4 ship.....here is 'O Captain! My Captain by Walt Whitman....

O Captain! My Captain!

O CAPTAIN! my Captain! our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won;
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring:
But O heart! heart! heart! 5
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
2

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills; 10
For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding;
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head;
It is some dream that on the deck, 15
You’ve fallen cold and dead.
3

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip, the victor ship, comes in with object won; 20
Exult, O shores, and ring, O bells!
But I, with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

----------------
next stop over....Grade V.
Kung emotionally driven ang declamation piece nung last year, mas emotionally draining ang Grade Five's piece.....'MY MOTHER'.
It started with the line "I wish to write to my mother.....
and yun lang ang natatandaan kong linya, and hopefully, may nakakaalala pa sa inyong mga ka-batch ko...
So that three famous poems nung panahon natin ang magpapaalala how simple life can be....

no stress....no distance. parang lahat ang lapit lapit...parang lahat ang dali daling gawin.
parang lahat kayang abutin.

Now, we are the captain of our own ship. And some friends we have are now mothers to their youngs. But somehow, I wish I can be an owl, or a pussycat...simple and seems not to have a care in the world......
